Hemis festival earmarks the birth of Guru Rinpoche translated as Padmasambhava. This festival is thought-out as sacred since many people wholeheartedly worship Guru Rinpoche. The festival takes place at the courtyard of Hemis monastery. The festival begins by dawn, and the Thangka of Rimpoche Dadmokarpo is unveiled in public with the sounds of cymbals and blowing of the long-horns.
